Non-EU immigration cap plan is likey to be set out by UK Government on 28 June 2010 to announce limit on non-EU immigration to around 24,000 for the year ending 05 April 2011
A cap on non-EU immigration will be introduced from next month as the coalition seeks to avoid a last-ditch influx to Britain, it has been revealed.
The cap will be measured each year, in consultation with Businesses and Business Organisations, but the government sources refused to specify the number in advance
During the election campaign David Cameron did say that immigration would be limited to "tens of thousands" rather than hundreds of thousands, however.
Economic experts warn that Britain, which suffers from a falling birthrate, simply cannot afford to obstruct the flow of young people of working age to the country.
There are also concerns that by creating too stringent and unwieldy an immigration system, the UK will freeze out talent and lose its reputation as a Mecca for creative and entrepreneurial figures.
