Tier 4 Student FAQ : Tier 4 General FAQ : Tier 4 Child Student FAQ

Study for an MBA in International Management or Business Law - validated and awarded by the University of Wales, UK.

Q What is Register of Sponsors under Tier 4?
A
Register of Sponsors or Education Providers Sponsor Register is Register or List of all educational institutions, colleges and universities who are granted License as Sponsors by the Home Office. This register is published every week and also contains the information regarding the ‘A’ or ‘B’ ratings and also whether the organization is authorized Tier 4 General i.e. Adult Students or Tier 4 Child applicants.

Q I have submitted Entry Clearance application under Tier 4 along with Visa Letter from an organization which was on Sponsor Register when I applied, but I understand their license is suspended by the Home Office. Will my application be refused?
A If your Entry Clearance application is pending consideration at British High Commission, it is likely that it will not be considered or will be kept pending while the organization’s license is suspended. Your application will be considered once the suspension is lifted and organization is restored to Sponsor Register

Q I have been granted the Visa or Entry Clearance however I have not yet traveled to the UK and I have come to know that the license of the college where I am accepted has been suspended. Should I travel to the UK?
A If you are aware that the education provider’s license is suspended before you travel to the UK, you should not travel to the UK till the license is restored.

Q How much Maintenance Fund is required under Tier 4 Student?
A You will need to have access to Maintenance Fund as under:

If your course for more than 1 year, you will need First Year’s full fees plus GBP 7,200 if you will be studying within Inner London area. OR, first year’s full fee plus GBP 5,400 if you are studying anywhere else in the UK.

If your course is for 9 months or more but less than 1 year, you will need full course fee + GBP 7,200 or GBP 5,400 depending upon the place of studies.

If your course is less than 9 months, you will need full course fees + GBP 800 per month for studies within Inner London area or GBP 600 per month for anywhere else in the UK.

Q I wish to carry my spouse with me as my dependant. Is it possible?
A Yes, if your course is for more than 6 month, it may be possible to apply under Tier 4 Dependant category for your spouse. You will however need to show that you have appropriate additional maintenance funds in place.

Q What is a Visa Letter?
A Visa Letter is a document which must be an official, unconditional offer by the sponsor to the applicant for the course of study he/she wants to do. It must be original, on letter-headed paper of the licensed sponsor and must include the original or electronic signature of an authorised official of that institution and dated. An electronic signature can be a digital signature or a scanned signature.

The Visa Letter cannot be issued by a representative or and agent.

The Visa Letter must include all of the information as detailed in the Tier 4 Guidance and the Original Visa Letter must be included with the visa application.

Visa Letter is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.

In due course, Visa Letters will be replaced by Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) which will be an electronic reference number generated by Online Sponsor Management System which is being implemented by the Home Office.

Q Are there any Study related outside the Points Based System (PBS)?
A There are certain visa applications which are outside Tier 4 of the PBS:

If you are applying as a Prospective Student and wish to visit the UK to visit the college / university before finalizing arrangements, you can apply for Visa for up to a maximum of 6 months.

If you are applying as Student Visitor for a visa for a course which is less than 6 months duration and you do not wish to work while in the UK and you do not wish to extend your visa i.e. you definitely wish to return.

If you are applying as Child Visitor for a visa for up to 6 months for a short duration course and if you are under 18 years of age at the time of application.

If you are applying as Parents of Children at School for Visa as accompanying carers for children under the age of 12 years

All the above applications are not under PBS and you do not need to score points to qualify however you must meet all the requirements of immigration rules.
