| Tier 5 : Temporary Work Visa under Points Based System of the UK |
|
If you have a job offer from a UK employer for specific, short-term employment of less than 12 months under Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) of the Points Based System, you can apply under Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) category. You must have both a sponsor and a valid Certificate of Sponsorship before applying.
Maintenance Fund Requirement for Tier 5 applications
As the main applicant you must have access to £800, which must be in your account continuously for three months prior to submission of your Entry Clearance application or your sponsor can certify on sponsorship certificate that the sponsor will be responsible for your maintenance.
If you have any dependants who are also applying, you will need to demonstrate that you have further £533 for each dependant accompanying you.
The balance must not fall below the required minimum at any time during the 3 month period.
Your sponsor cannot certify maintenance for your dependants.
Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) has five categories:
Creative and sporting - for people going to the United Kingdom to work or perform as sportspeople, entertainers or creative artists for up to 12 months.
Charity worker - for people going to the United Kingdom to do voluntary, unpaid work for a charity.
Religious worker – for people going to the United Kingdom to work as religious workers. Duties may include preaching, pastoral and non-pastoral work.
Government authorised exchange – for people going to the United Kingdom through approved schemes that aim to share knowledge, experience and best practice.
International agreement – for people going to the United Kingdom under contract to provide a service that is covered under international law.
The basic requirements for the Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) category are that you should have an offer from a UK based employer who is registered with Home Office and holds a license to sponsor individuals under this category.
The sponsor will need to assign a Certificate of Sponsorship before you can apply for a visa under Tier 5. The Certificate of Sponsorship will act as an assurance that you are able to undertake a particular job and intend to do so.
